The co-hosts of “The View” discussed concerns about Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin potentially eyeing a third-party presidential bid, fearing it could harm President Joe Biden’s chances of re-election.

Manchin announced he wouldn’t seek re-election and mentioned a movement to mobilize the middle.

“I’ve made one of the toughest decisions in my life and decided that I will not be running for re-election to the United States Senate,” wrote Sen. Manchin. (Trending: Biden Impeachment Vote Comes To House Floor)

“But what I will be doing is traveling the country and speaking out to see if there is an interest in creating a movement to mobilize the middle and bring Americans together,” he continued.

Adding, “We need to take back America and not let this divisive hatred further pull us apart.”

The co-hosts expressed worries about a third-party run, with some suggesting it could shift power to the right and potentially boost Trump.

Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin said she was “willing to hear what they have to say, but I worry that it could end up boosting the more dangerous candidate.”

Co-host Sunny Hostin followed up saying she was unaware of a third party candidate being, “successful other than in drawing votes away” from the major parties.

“I think it’s a bad idea,” declared Hostin.

“A Republican Party that is stronger and does not have Donald Trump as its leader is, in my opinion, a much better idea. I think it’s time for Republicans that are moderate and that are sophisticated to step up and denounce Trump, and I think that would solve the problem much more so than this No Label Party,” she continued.

Co-host Ana Navarro then argued that Manchin had “been a problem child for Democrats for the last few years,“ and would ask him, “Are you willing to be responsible for putting Donald Trump back in the White House?”

“The man who’s been a threat to democracy, a threat to American values, who led an insurrection? she continued.

“Are you willing to be part of something that may end up putting that man who should be nowhere near the Oval Office, he should be in a jail cell?” concluded Navarro.

They also debated the potential impact on Democratic and Republican parties, with some viewing it as a desperate cry for relevance.
