Vladimir Putin announced his intention to run for another term as Russia’s president, a move widely expected to result in a victory.

The announcement, made during a military awards ceremony, comes against the backdrop of the war in Ukraine.

Putin’s decision to run was anticipated, particularly after constitutional amendments in 2020 allowed him to potentially remain in power until 2036. (Trending: Biden Bank Records Reveal Another Massive Bombshell)

“I won’t hide it, I had different thoughts at different times,” said Putin.

“But now you are right, the time is such when a decision needs to be made,” he said.

Confirming, “I will run for president of Russia.”

Nikolay Petrov, an analyst with the German Institute for International and Security Affairs, said, “This is not an election, this is the re-election of the same leader.”

“Mr. Putin is essentially competing with himself — with the younger Putin,” continued Petrov.

Adding, “It is important for him to show that he is not in a worse place than he was 25 years ago.”

The upcoming election carries significance as the first since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, and Putin, now 71, is effectively competing with his previous leadership.

Despite the conflict in Ukraine, the war has not prominently featured in Putin’s recent public appearances leading up to the election.
