Sen. Kyrsten Sinema is facing a complaint for failing to disclose financial details as required by federal law.
The complaint revolves around her relationship with Dr. Lindsay Buckman, whom she asked the House Ethics Committee to treat as her “spouse in all but title” for travel purposes.
However, she has not reported any of Buckman’s assets or income on disclosures, despite senators being required to do so for their spouses. (Trending: Elon Musk Condemns Arrest Of Jan 6 Protester)
“Sen. Sinema has a moral and legal obligation to fully disclose the details of her finances,” Tom Jones said.
“The fact that she hasn’t done so is highly suspicious and troubling.”
“While Senator Sinema appears to believe Dr. Buckman is just like a spouse for the purpose of $7737.15 junkets to Israel funded by outside groups, she does not seem to believe that the spousal designation applies for the purposes of financial disclosures,” the complaint stated.
The American Accountability Foundation, a conservative organization, has raised concerns about her lack of transparency, questioning her motives and ethical standards.
“AAF deploys aggressive research and investigations to advance conservative messaging, rapid response, and Congressional investigations; while heavily scrutinizing politicians and establishment organizations, policies, and projects,” the website reads.
Sinema’s office did not respond to the complaint, and her lack of openness has been highlighted in light of her potential re-election bid.
“Kyrsten Sinema’s failure to disclose her assets and potential conflicts of interest raises serious ethical questions as she flirts with asking Arizonans for their vote again,” Tate Mitchell said.
“Arizonans deserve to have an honest broker serving them in the Senate, not another shady D.C. politician.”
