Senate Republicans blocked additional security aid to Ukraine, Israel, and the Indo-Pacific, including Taiwan, in favor of focusing on tougher measures at the U.S.-Mexico border.

President Biden had requested nearly $106 billion for military and economic assistance, warning of dire consequences for Ukraine if the aid was not approved.

However, some Republicans were wary of providing more support to Ukraine and insisted on changes to U.S. border policy as a condition for their support. (Trending: Biden Bank Records Reveal Another Massive Bombshell)

“Republicans think they get everything they want without any bipartisan compromise,” claimed Biden.

“Now they’re willing to literally kneecap Ukraine on the battlefield and damage our national security in the process,” he continued.

Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell said in response, “Legislation that doesn’t include policy changes to secure our borders will not pass the Senate.”

Adding, “The situation unfolding at our southern border on President Biden’s watch is a crisis of historic proportions.”

Biden accused Republicans of prioritizing political issues over bipartisan compromise.

The failure to pass the aid package was described as “a sad night for the Senate and America” by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.

Independent Sen. Bernie Sanders explained his opposition, saying, “I do not believe that we should give the right-wing extremist Netanyahu government an additional $10.1 billion dollars with no strings attached to continue their inhumane war against the Palestinian people.”

Additionally, the U.S. announced a $175 million military aid package to Ukraine, including guided missiles and anti-armor systems.
