Elon Musk expressed openness to allowing Alex Jones back on Twitter/X, stating that permanent bans should be rare and that community notes could correct false statements.
Musk has previously expressed concerns about free speech and unevenly enforced terms of service on the platform.
Jones was initially banned for criticizing CNN’s Oliver Darcy by saying he had the “eyes of a rat.” The Twitter Files later showed Oliver Darcy was “essentially an informant for Twitter” and “secretly flagged tweets while employed as a CNN journalist.”
This scandal led to the censorship of Americans, including permanent bans.
Alex Jones was suspended by Twitter 1.0 for saying CNN’s Oliver Darcy had the “eyes of a rat.”
Ironically, as Paul Thacker & I uncovered in the Twitter Files—Oliver Darcy was essentially an informant for Twitter 1.0, secretly flagging tweets while employed as a CNN “journalist.” https://t.co/FAVBI9MFZo

Jones, however, expressed doubt about being allowed back on the platform, acknowledging the public’s perception of him and Musk’s need to consider various factors before making such a decision. (Trending: Hunter Biden Indicted on 9 New Criminal Charges)
“Think about how much letting Alex Jones BACK on X would make the machine rage,” wrote political commentator The Quartering.
Musk responded to the post that he was “considering” the move.
“In general, since this platform aspires to be the global town square, permanent bans should be extremely rare,” Musk wrote.
“Also, if he does say something false on this platform, then Community Notes will correct him, whereas that would not be the case elsewhere,” he continued.
“I understand I’ve been so demonized with the general public, said Jones.
“He’s barely able to keep Twitter going right now,” highlighted the controversial host.
“I really appreciate what he’s done. I admire him. I think he’s done a lot of great work, and I see him moving in the right direction,” said Jones.
“So a lot of people attack Musk on Twitter. I trend all the time, ‘hey, if you’re such an absolutist on free speech, bring back Alex Jones,’ reflected Jones.
“I understand that if he did that, the ADL and others would really be able to probably shut down Twitter. So I understand that he needs to go through a process before he does that,” reasoned the famous conspiracy theorist.
