During a live BBC News broadcast, presenter Maryam Moshiri was caught flipping her middle finger to the camera, which occurred just before the announcement of a BBC license fee hike.

The fee is set to increase by just over £10, making it £169 a year.

The incident happened as the program went on air, and Moshiri later issued an apology.

“Live from London, this is BBC News,” she said awkwardly afterward.

The BBC’s funding has decreased, with a drop in the number of viewers paying for the license fee attributed to competition from streaming services.
