Former Speaker Kevin McCarthy has announced his retirement from Congress, expressing pride in his 17 years of service and a commitment to continue serving America in new ways.
He will transition to a role outside of government and remain active in Republican Party politics, focusing on recruiting new leaders.
His decision to step down will further shrink the GOP’s House majority, and his retirement was celebrated by conservatives on social media. (Trending: Elon Musk Condemns Arrest Of Jan 6 Protester)

“No matter the odds, or personal cost, we did the right thing,” McCarthy said.
“That may seem out of fashion in Washington these days, but delivering results for the American people is still celebrated across the country.”
“I never could have imagined the journey when I first threw my hat into the ring,” McCarthy wrote.
“I go knowing I left it all on the field — as always, with a smile on my face. And looking back, I wouldn’t have had it any other way.”
“I will continue to recruit our country’s best and brightest to run for elected office,” he said.
“The Republican Party is expanding every day, and I am committed to lending my experience to support the next generation of leaders.”
Additionally, Republican Rep. Patrick McHenry of North Carolina also announced his retirement.
