Former President Donald Trump has launched a new “I know you are but what am I” campaign strategy, attacking President Joe Biden as “the destroyer of American democracy.”

The move is seen as an attempt to counter accusations by Biden that Trump is a threat to democracy.

Trump’s ongoing focus on electoral fraud and claims of Democrats, including Biden, stealing elections has been a central message of his ongoing campaign. (Trending: Joe Biden Admits He’s ‘Not Sure’ About Running If Trump Wasn’t)

The strategy aims to rile up his followers and neutralize the topic as political “tit-for-tat.”

A “senior Trump adviser” told the Washington Post, “President Trump is turning the tables, We are not going to allow Joe Biden and the Democrats to gaslight the American public.”

Additionally, Trump’s repetitive messaging about Biden’s alleged unethical behavior has had an impact, with a significant portion of the public believing Biden acted unethically or illegally based solely on lies and innuendo.

Trump’s push for Biden’s impeachment is also part of this effort to neutralize his own impeachments.

Overall, the strategy seems to project Trump’s own flaws onto his rivals and feed into the cynicism prevalent in the political culture, potentially swaying swing voters to perceive little difference between Trump and Biden.
