Liz Cheney has remained critical of Donald Trump and the current direction of the Republican Party.

She expressed concern about the party’s stance on the 2024 election and hinted that she would prefer a Democratic majority over a Republican one.

“You know, we’re facing a situation with respect to the 2024 election where it’s an existential crisis and we have to ensure that we don’t have a situation where an election that might be thrown into the House of Representatives is overseen by a Republican majority,” Cheney said. “So you would prefer a Democratic majority?” John Dickerson asked.

“I believe very strongly in those principles and ideals that have defined the Republican Party. But the Republican Party of today has made a choice, and they haven’t chosen the Constitution. And so I do think it presents a threat if the Republicans are in the majority in January 2025,” Cheney answered.

Trump, in response, criticized her and accused her of working to delete and destroy evidence from the January 6 committee.

“Crazy Liz Cheney, who suffers from Trump Derangement Syndrome at a level rarely seen before, writes in her boring new book that Keven McCarthy said he came to Mar-a-Lago after the RIGGED election because, “the former president was depressed and not eating.” That statement is not true,” Trump posted.

“I was not depressed, I WAS ANGRY, and it was not that I was not eating, it was that I was eating too much.”

“But that’s not why Keven McCarthy was there. He was at Mar-a-Lago to get my support, and to bring the Republican Party together – Only good intentions.”

“Liz Cheney, on the other hand, went on to lose her seat in Congress by the largest margin for a sitting Congressperson in the history of the U.S.”

“She then worked with others on the J6 Committee to delete and destroy the evidence and findings of the committee.”

The exchange reflects the ongoing tensions within the Republican Party and the divide between Trump supporters and those critical of his influence.
