During a House Oversight Committee hearing, U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett referred to Texas and Florida as “deplorable states,” criticizing the Heritage Foundation for influencing legislation in those states.
The hearing was paused as Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene moved to strike the comment from the record, but it was ultimately kept.

Rep. Jasmine Crockett said, “In fact, Ms. Perry, I know your organization, the Heritage Foundation, loves Texas. Ooh, they love Texas.”
“They always sending us some nonsense bills that somehow set this country on the wrong trajectory,” she continued.
“They send them to Texas, they send them to Florida,” revealed the rep.
“Every deplorable state that we can think about, they usually coming out of y’all’s think tank,” alleged Crockett.
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna moved to strike Crockett’s comments from the record, stating her identification with her pronouns as “state and states.”
