Hamas terrorists halted negotiations to release female hostages to prevent them from revealing the sexual violence they experienced.
Eyewitness and official accounts describe horrifying acts of sexual violence, including rape, mutilation, and sadistic behavior.
“The fact that they continue to hold women hostages, the fact that they continue to hold children hostages, just the fact that it seems one of the reasons they don’t want to turn women over they’ve been holding hostage, and the reason this pause fell apart, is they don’t want those women to be able to talk about what happened to them during their time in custody,” State Department Spokesman Matthew Miller said. “There is very little that I would put beyond Hamas when it comes to its treatment of civilians, and particularly its treatment of women,” he added.
“They cut limbs and genitals, they raped, they abused corpses,” said Israeli Police Chief Kobi Shabtai.
“There were sadistic sexual acts.”
Witnesses recalled one woman being raped by 10 terrorists, saying, “She was screaming, ‘Stop it already! I’m going to die anyway from what you are doing, just kill me!’”
“When they finished, they were laughing, and the last one shot her in the head.”
Despite these reports, some organizations have remained silent, and progressive politicians have emphasized the need for “balance” when addressing the situation.
