Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin of Illinois proposed giving citizenship in exchange for military service to undocumented immigrants, arguing it would enhance national security.
This idea has been heavily criticized, with concerns raised regarding the potential risks of arming individuals who have illegally entered the country, including those with criminal backgrounds or ties to terrorism.
“Do you know what the recruiting numbers are at the Army, Navy, and the Air Force? They can’t reach their quotas each month. “And there are those who are undocumented who want the chance to serve and risk their lives for this country. Should we give them a chance? I think we should.”
The proposal was seen as a threat to national security, with many advocating for a focus on border security and deportation of those who have entered the country unlawfully.
“And there it is – Sen Dick Durbin is finally revealing their grand plan,” attorney Rogan O’Handley posted.
