Prior to the fire, Roberson filed complaints of racial targeting, but these claims are still under investigation.
Roberson had reportedly complained that someone spray-painted “We don’t like your kind,” on his home.
Roberson also reported shots being fired at his house.
“People are being terrible because of the hatred in their heart,” Roberson told reporters.
Roberson blamed “racism, power, hungriness, [and] money” for the attack.
“Look, I feel like this, worn down, torn down,” reflected Roberson.
Investigators have uncovered a history of financial lawsuits against Roberson, and the injured survivor of the fire mentioned insurance fraud.
Roberson owed over $26,000 in back taxes on the home, and the county had rendered a decree of sale for the unpaid taxes.
