Israel’s Security Minister, Itamar Ben Gvir, has stated that his ministry is approving up to 3,000 gun license applications per day.
This policy was implemented during the recent war, with over 260,000 applications approved since October 7, 2023.
The increase in approvals is in response to a rise in armed civilian interventions, such as a recent incident where civilians and off-duty soldiers opened fire on terrorists at a Jerusalem bus stop, resulting in the terrorists’ deaths. (Trending: Olympic Gold Medalist Sentenced For Jan 6)
“When the war started, we knew that we were right when we said that every place that has a weapon can save a life,” said Gvir.
“My policy within the office was to permit as many people as possible to get a weapon…[and] in a short period of time, we were giving up to 3,000 approvals a day,” he continued.
