MSNBC’s decision to cancel far-left host Mehdi Hasan’s program has caused deep disappointment and concern among network staffers, with some questioning the move and expressing the need for more of Hasan’s presence.

While MSNBC portrayed the change as a programming decision, skepticism exists within the network.

“Across the board [at the network], there’s deep disappointment at this. People there do operate in some awe of him, whether you agree with him or not. The guy’s brave, the guy says what is on his mind,” revealed an MSNBC insider to Fox News Digital.

“I think people are worried about why Medhi got benched, but they also think we need more Mehdi, not less,” the insider said.

The cancellation occurred following the resurfacing of controversial remarks made by Hasan in 2009, which some speculate may have contributed to the decision.

The move also coincides with MSNBC’s viewership struggles, with Hasan’s show averaging low viewership numbers.

Despite the cancellation, Hasan received public support from colleagues and Democratic lawmakers, who expressed concerns about the decision and praised Hasan’s journalistic abilities.

“Mehdi’s the greatest, btw. Just a good dude who is the best at what he does,” wrote NBC News reporter Ben Collins.

Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar called Hasan, “one of the most brilliant and most prominent Muslim journalists in the U.S.” and expressed her concerns about his demotion.

“It is deeply troubling that MSNBC is canceling his show amid a rampant rise of anti-Muslim bigotry and suppression of Muslim voices,” alleged the Squad-member.

“Anyone who cares about free expression should be concerned,” added Omar.
