Many have taken notice of the strained relationship between Nancy Pelosi and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, particularly following several instances of disagreement and confrontation between the two.
Democrats are particularly split on the Israel-Hamas war.
Democrats who are 35 or younger are far more likely to sympathize with Palestinians (74%) than Israelis (16%).
Democrats 65 and older are more likely to side with Israelis (45%) than Palestinians (25%).
The incidents between Pelosi and AOC have included disputes over policy, public disagreements, and personal interactions.
“She just keeps talking; it’s a fascinating thing,” Saikat Chakrabarti, a former staffer of AOC said of Pelosi. (Trending: Another Major Company Goes Woke And Goes Broke)
“We were eating, and she just talked the entire time without even taking a break. And I wasn’t sure exactly what she was saying, but I was like, ‘Huh, OK.’”
“You got a complaint? You come and talk to me about it. But do not tweet about our members and expect us to think that that is just OK,” Pelosi said in 2019.
Ocasio-Cortez expressed relief after Hakeem Jeffries took over as leader of the House Democrats, indicating that her issues were largely due to Pelosi.
“That it was strange that after I beat Crowley not a single person bothered to ask how I beat him … and how I think we should pay attention and ask questions when that happens, to spot weaknesses. She got so mad at me,” AOC said of Pelosi.
“I thought a lot of my misery was due to leadership more broadly having a thing against me. But … my life has completely transformed. It’s crazy. And it’s that that made me realize it was kind of just Pelosi the whole time.”
