An 85-year-old Israeli hostage, Aryeh Zalmanovich, taken by Hamas terrorists during an attack, has died in captivity.
He was a founder of Kibbutz Nir Oz, and his death was confirmed by the community.

Goren, a dedicated kindergarten teacher, and Engel, a photographer and volunteer, were also killed in the attack.
The kibbutz suffered significant casualties, with one-fourth of its residents murdered or kidnapped, including foreign workers.
