“Efforts should be made to increase the opening of relevant clinics and treatment areas, extend service hours and increase the supply of medicines,” said ministry spokesman Mi Feng.
The outbreak has led to concerns about a lack of transparency, and the World Health Organization has requested further information.
The situation is reminiscent of the early stages of the Covid-19 pandemic, leading to calls for an open mind about the cause of the illness.
