Nikki Haley criticized Ron DeSantis for calling her an “establishment” candidate, as the two seemingly battle for second-place behind former President Donald Trump.

The competition between the two has peaked in recent days.

Haley secured an endorsement from Americans for Prosperity Action, while DeSantis attacked her as aligned with establishment interests. (Trending: Chilling Surveillance Program Under Biden Exposed)

“There is nothing establishment about a candidate who was the tea party candidate who ran for governor,” Haley said.

“I think he is saying what he has to say because he is grasping at this point.”

“If you’re [Haley] running for second place, tell everybody you’re running for second place,” former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said.

“I don’t play for second, I never have. I won’t do it now,” Haley pressed.

DeSantis has also portrayed Haley as out of touch with Republican voters, with other candidates criticizing her for not taking a clear stance against Trump.

Haley denied positioning herself for the vice presidency and declared that she is running against Trump, waiting for him to debate.

“I am running against President Trump. I’m waiting for him to get on a debate stage.”

“He can’t start acting like President Biden. He needs to get on the debate stage, and he need confront us.”

“He needs to let us confront him and talk about the differences and go forward,” Haley concluded.
