Presidential historian Michael Beschloss warns Americans to take Donald Trump’s comments about using the military seriously, emphasizing that Trump’s intentions should not be dismissed as bluster.
Beschloss highlighted Trump’s stated willingness to use the military to suppress domestic opponents and cautions that such actions are characteristic of authoritarian and fascist leaders.
Despite the potential negative impact on his electoral prospects, Beschloss noted his surprise at Trump’s openness about these intentions. (Trending: Chilling Surveillance Program Under Biden Exposed)
Beschloss said, “Take it seriously,” to MSNBC host Katie Phang.
“Remember that? That was all totally wrong. Take him at his word,” warned the historian.
Beschloss said that Donald Trump “has told us he’s going to use the American military” in an attempt to “suppress his domestic opponents.”
“This is what authoritarians do. This is what fascists do,” declared Beschloss.
Beschloss criticized Trump’s political agenda by concluding, it’s “probably not in his [Trump’s] interest because if he wants to get elected next year, it probably makes more sense to him to pretend to be someone who’s more moderated.”
