Mark Cuban announced on the “All The Smoke” podcast that the upcoming 16th season of “Shark Tank” will be his last.
He expressed his love for the show and its ability to inspire generations of entrepreneurs, despite admitting to being down on a cash basis for his investments.
“This is our 15th year. Next year, 16th year, is going to be my last year,” Cuban said.
“I feel like in doing ‘Shark Tank’ all these years, we’ve trained a generation of entrepreneurs, multiple generations of entrepreneurs that if somebody can come from Iowa or Sacramento or wherever, and show up on the carpet of ‘Shark Tank’ and show their business and get a deal, it’s going to inspire generations of kids,” Cuban said.
“That’s what happens, right? Now we’ve got people coming on [saying] I watched you when I was 10 years old.”
Cuban is also selling his majority stake in the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks from Mark Cuban to the family behind Las Vegas Sands.
The deal will hand control of the Mavs to the Adelson family.
The transaction values the Mavericks in the range of $3.5 billion, and Cuban will maintain a significant role with the NBA franchise even after the sale closes.
“The Dallas Mavericks are one of the world’s most successful and recognizable sports franchises,” the Adelson and Dumont families said in the statement.
“The team has won an NBA championship, has a long history of attracting international superstars and has been supported by a dedicated and passionate fanbase and leadership group led by Mark Cuban.”
