Families are fleeing the Mexican town of Sasabe due to violent cartel activity, with rival cartels engaging in intense battles and burning homes.
The town, once populated by about 2,500 residents, now has only around 15 families remaining.

“They’re caught in the crossfire,” Tucson Samaritans’ Gail Kocourek said.
“It’s getting worse and worse.”
However, others have resorted to crossing the border wall illegally. U.S. Customs and Border Protection is aware of the situation and grants entry on a case-by-case basis.
The Tucson Border Patrol temporarily shut down its social media due to the migrant surge, as the southern border has seen record levels of illegal immigration in recent years.
“At this time, all available personnel are needed to address the unprecedented flow,” John Modlin, chief patrol agent of the Tucson Sector, posted.
“The social media team will return once the situation permits.”
