The White House opposes Israel’s plan to attack Hamas in the southern Gaza Strip unless it can account for internally displaced Palestinian civilians.
The US supports Israel’s right to eliminate the terrorist threat but emphasizes the added burden of accounting for innocent lives in south Gaza.

“We don’t support southern operations, unless or until the Israelis can show that they’ve accounted for all the internally displaced people of Gaza,” said White House National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby.
The White House hopes for further pauses in fighting and has placed no burden on Hamas or Palestinian leaders to support Palestinian civilians.
