The civil fraud trial of former President Donald Trump in Manhattan involves a lawsuit brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James, accusing Trump of overvaluing his business’s assets.

The judge has already ruled that Trump and his organization are guilty of fraud, and Trump attempted to read a disclaimer document in court to defend himself, but was not allowed.

The trial is seen as a politically motivated vendetta, and Trump’s outburst in court reflects the contentious nature of the proceedings.

“I would love to read this, Your Honor, if I could?” Trump reportedly asked.

“Not at this point, not at this point,” responded Judge Engoron.

“I’m shocked,” exclaimed Trump.

“He called me a fraud and he didn’t know anything about me!” alleged Trump from the witness stand, later in the day.

“The fraud is on the court and not on me … the fraud is on her!” continued Trump, referring to Letitia James.
“We have a disclaimer clause that says do your own due diligence, don’t under any circumstances count on anything in here,” explained Trump.

“If you were borrowing money … they were not really documents that the banks paid much attention to. They looked at the deal, they looked at the asset … but these were not very important, added the former president.”

The case is expected to conclude by mid-December.
