The following brands were identified as possibly contaminated:
“ALDI” whole cantaloupes
“Vinyard” pre-cut cantaloupes
“Freshness Guaranteed” and “RaceTrac” brand pre-cut cantaloupes
“Malichita” or “Rudy” whole cantaloupes: labeled “Product of Mexico/produit due Mexique” and “4050”
Canadian officials reported suggested that the “Malichita” and “Rudy” cantaloupes are “the likely source of the outbreak.”
Dr. Marc Stiegel, a clinical professor of medicine said, “The cantaloupes come from Mexico, and the bacteria could be from food handlers or animal or irrigation contamination.”
Symptoms of a Salmonella infection include diarrhea, fever, stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting, or a headache.
The investigation is still ongoing.
