Kayti Edwards, an ex-girlfriend and former assistant of Matthew Perry, expressed doubts about his sobriety on the night he died, pointing out red flags in a social media post shortly before his death that suggested a possible relapse.
Despite initial testing showing no drugs in his system, Edwards, who dated Perry in 2006 and worked as his assistant, suspected drug use due to his use of “Mattman” and his behavior around water when he was high.
She questioned the circumstances of his death, believing he wouldn’t have drowned. (Trending: SNL Legend Unleashes On Democrats)
“That Mattman thing was not something he did when he was sober,” Edwards reportedly told media outlets.
“Mattman would come out when he was not sober and he felt kind of invincible, she continued.”
“I was around when he was getting high, although I was not getting high with him, and when I would say maybe he should cool it a little bit with the drugs, he would say, ‘No, I’m Mattman,’” she recalled.
“When he got high, he was always alone,” she remembered about Perry, adding that he liked being “in the pool or the Jacuzzi.”
“One time, his neighbor in Hollywood Hills found Matthew naked and high in his swimming pool,” recalled Edwards.
Adding, “I had to go over there and get him out of his neighbor’s pool.
“They said there were no prescription painkillers at the scene, which doesn’t surprise me, because he didn’t leave drugs lying around,” said Edwards.
“He was paranoid and would take them all, so there wasn’t any evidence, and then go out for more when he was ready to,” added Perry’s ex- girlfriend.
Perry’s official cause of death is pending additional tests.
