The Iranian regime has adopted the label “axis of resistance” to describe itself and its allies, despite the negative connotations of the term.
The former head of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps warned that “new war fronts” could open if Israel continues its offensive in Gaza.
This is reminiscent of U.S. President George W. Bush’s inclusion of Iran in the “axis of evil” as a state sponsor of terror, along with North Korea and Iraq.
The term “axis” typically refers to the powers aligned with Nazi Germany in the Second World War.
