A new poll reveals that many young Americans are choosing to avoid family gatherings due to the potential for political discussions and debates.
The survey found that Gen Z and Millennials are more likely to skip family gatherings or dread them because of political debates, while older generations are more likely to opt for peace.
The majority of Americans keep their political opinions close, and many use various strategies to avoid talking about politics, such as changing the subject or avoiding certain friends and family members.
“Gen X and Boomers opt for peace, while Gen Z and Millennials deem certain topics off-limits,” explained the researchers.
The poll found that 85% of subjects did not reveal their politics to members of their immediate family.
However, most Americans are willing to engage in discussions with people who hold different viewpoints.
A new Quinnipiac University national poll has found that more than 60 percent of people say they would rather not talk about politics over the holiday this week https://t.co/SRXdBiqgba pic.twitter.com/4RXNaXxjwG
