A United States Postal Service employee, Nakedra Shannon, along with two others, Donnell Gardner and Desiray Carter, have been accused of stealing checks totaling at least $24 million and selling them.

The scheme involved stealing incoming and outgoing checks at a Charlotte postal processing center and lasted from April to July 2023.

The stolen checks were allegedly sold on a Telegram channel, and the trio made “hundreds of thousands of dollars in criminal proceeds.”

The conspiracy was uncovered through an investigation by several agencies.

The accused have been released on bond after their first court appearances, and the charges carry potential penalties of up to 30 years’ imprisonment.
