New York City Democratic Mayor Eric Adams has announced $4 billion in budget cuts, reducing police hiring and slashing the Education Department budget, citing the federal government’s inaction on the illegal immigration crisis.

The city has been overwhelmed by an influx of illegal immigrants, leading to unsustainable costs.

“D.C. has abandoned us, and they need to be paying their cost to this national problem,” Adams stated.

“I tell people all the time when they stop me on the subway system, ‘Don’t yell at me, yell at D.C.,’” he added.

“We deserve better as a city.”

“No city should be left to handle a national humanitarian crisis largely on its own, and without the significant and timely support we need from Washington, D.C. Today’s budget will be only the beginning,” Adams pressed.

Adams has called for more support from the Biden administration but has faced challenges, including an FBI investigation into his campaign’s alleged ties to the Turkish government.
