President Biden was criticized for repeating a claim about a Navy appointment and for singling out a young girl during a “Friendsgiving” meal for service members.
He made a statement about being appointed to the Naval Academy and addressed a 6-year-old girl, guessing her age and making comments about her ears.
The event was held at Naval Station Norfolk and Biden also thanked service members for their service.

“By the way, I’m all Navy. But I was appointed… I was gonna go play [football] at the Naval Academy until I found out the other guys in the backfield were a guy named Roger Staubach and Joe Bellino,” claimed Biden at the event.
A Republican-linked X account “RNC Research” posted that there is no record of this event.
The group recently posted a clip of Biden talking with young children at the “Friendsgiving” event.
“And I love your ears. I love ‘em, they’re really cool,” Biden can be reportedly heard saying to a young female.
“What’s your name?” he continues.
“Catherine,” responded the girl.
“Catherine? What a beautiful name. That’s my mommy’s name,” remarked Biden.
“How old are you? 17?” Biden teased.
A younger boy calls out, “No, she’s 6,” and Biden moves his attention to the him.
“Be nice to your sister, you’re gonna need her one day,” cautions the president.
“At least, I did,” he added.
Biden reportedly said “I like kids better than people,” during this encournter.
