During a turkey pardon event, President Joe Biden made off-the-cuff comments comparing the difficulty of selecting turkeys to getting tickets for popular concerts, but he appeared to confuse Taylor Swift with Britney Spears and Beyonce.
The joke fell flat, as he referenced Beyonce’s recent tour, which ended in October, and Britney Spears, who isn’t currently touring.
“Liberty and Bell had to beat some tough odds, competition,” Biden said.

“Harder than getting a ticket to The Renaissance Tour — or, or to Britney’s tour, she’s down in – it’s kind of warm in Brazil right now.”
Swift is the only one currently on tour, performing in Brazil, but a reference to the heat in Rio de Janeiro was sensitive, given a fan’s death at one of her concerts.
Ana Clara Benevides, 23, died of cardiac arrest due to extreme heat, prompting complaints about water availability from other fans.
Swift expressed condolences after learning about Benevides’ death.
