A Hawaiian woman has been ordered to pay nearly $40,000 in restitution to American Airlines for causing a flight to return to Phoenix due to her threatening behavior towards staff and passengers.
The woman, Cayla Farris, received a sentence of three and a half months, and three months of supervised probation.
She pleaded guilty to Interference with a Flight Crew Member after using profanity and making threats during a flight from Phoenix to Honolulu.
The incident caused significant disruption, and ultimately led to multiple flights being rerouted to Hawaii.
