Biden Campaign Reminds America Why It Dumped Trump

via CNN

President Joe Biden and his campaign are anticipating a rematch against Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election.

They have started by emphasizing the threat to American democracy posed by Trump, and are shifting their focus from their improving of the economy to simply persuading Americans to fear Trump.

“The same man who said we should terminate the rules and regulations and articles of the Constitution — these are things he said — is now running on a plan to end democracy as we know it,” Biden stated.

“This next election is different. It’s more important. There’s more at stake. And we all know why: Because our very democracy is at stake,” he pressed.

Recent polls revealing Biden trailing Trump have prompted the change in strategy.

The campaign is running digital ads attacking Trump, and aims to ensure that his controversial comments and proposals receive widespread attention.

“It’s going to be a long campaign, and we may as well start getting into it now,” a Biden official said.

“At the end of the day, it’s a choice. Driving the contrast is incredibly important.”

“Trump is the almost certain Republican nominee, and they would be wise to begin framing the choice now,” said David Axelrod.

Biden’s approach is to highlight the contrast between his traditional values and Trump’s autocratic tendencies.

“Trump has said if he returns to office, he’s going to go after all those who oppose him and wipe out what he called the ‘vermin’ — quote, the ‘vermin’ in America. A specific phrase with a specific meaning. It echoes language you heard in Nazi Germany in the ’30s. And it isn’t even the first time,” Biden said.

“Trump also recently talked about, quote, ‘the blood of America is being poisoned’ — ‘the blood of America is being poisoned.’ Again, echoes the same phrases used in Nazi Germany.”

Despite concerns about Biden’s overall weakness, he performs best against Trump compared to other Republicans running for the nomination.

The impact of Biden’s engagement with Trump on the Republican contests remains uncertain.
