Javier Milei, a self-described anarcho-capitalist, has been elected as the next president of Argentina, drawing comparisons to former U.S. President Donald Trump due to his sensational rhetoric.

Milei’s campaign focused on economic shock therapy and slashing the size of the state, promising to move the Argentine embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

His victory comes amid widespread discontent and rising poverty, with his opponent conceding defeat.

“We’re starting a new chapter in Argentina,” proclaimed Milei.

“This chapter requires not only goodwill, intelligence and capability but above all, dialogue and the necessary consensus for our homeland to traverse a much more virtuous path in the future,” emphasized the new president.

Milei’s proposals raised concerns about public services and welfare programs, but he walked back some controversial proposals in his final campaign ad.

The election revealed a deep division among Argentines, with Milei’s rhetoric resonating with those angered by financial struggles.
