Thousands of baristas at around 200 Starbucks locations plan to strike for a day due to understaffing and stress during promotions.
The Workers United Union has been attempting to unionize the locations for years.
The strike coincides with Red Cup Day, a promotion where customers essentially overpay for a Christmas drink and receive a red Starbucks cup in return.

“Understaffing hurts workers and also creates an unpleasant experience for customers,” barista Neha Cremin said.
“Starbucks has made it clear that they won’t listen to workers, so we’re advocating for ourselves by going on strike.”
Critics of the strike have expressed that such actions are likely to foster greater entitlement and an inability to cope with the real world among those of younger generations.
