The deepening divide among Democratic leaders over their stance on Israel continues to wreak havoc on the Party, with some Democrats expressing anti-Israel and even antisemitic sentiments.
The party’s shift has led to concerns among Jewish Americans, with many feeling unwelcome.
“Last night, 15 of my Democratic colleagues voted AGAINST standing with our ally Israel and condemning Hamas terrorists who brutally murdered, raped, and kidnapped babies, children, men, women, and elderly, including Americans,” Representative Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ) wrote.

“They are despicable and do not speak for our party.”
Progressive figures like Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib have faced criticism for their comments, while the Republican Party has positioned itself as a strong supporter of Israel, offering a welcoming home for Jewish Americans.
“Increasingly, Jews are being forced to choose between their Jewish roots and their traditionally leftist political orientation,” said Joel Kotkin of the Roger Hobbs Presidential Fellow in Urban Futures at Chapman University.
“Many of those expressing support for Hamas’s actions, and opposition to any strong Israeli response, come from the left.”
