Florida Governor Ron DeSantis criticized former President Donald Trump’s age, stating that the presidency is not suitable for an 80-year-old.
DeSantis, a Republican presidential hopeful, highlighted Trump’s perceived decline in comparison to his earlier years and began tracking what he described as Trump’s blunders with a “Trump Accident Tracker.”
“This is not the same guy as the Trump in 2015 and ’16. That Trump would show up on the debate stage, he would barnstorm,” DeSantis said.

“Now he’s wedded to the Teleprompter, he’s not willing to debate, and he’s running on many of the same things he promised to do in 2016 and didn’t deliver,” he added.
“Look, when you get to this point — the presidency is not a job for somebody that’s pushing 80 years old, I just think that that’s something that has been shown with Joe Biden,” DeSantis went on.
“Father Time is undefeated. Donald Trump is not exempt from any of that.”
Age has become a significant issue in the 2024 presidential election, especially with the potential matchup between Trump, who would be 78, and Biden, who will turn 81.
DeSantis, at 45, emphasized the impact of age on presidential capability, referencing Joe Biden’s presidency as an example.
