Elon Musk has threatened to sue Media Matters for America, claiming the non-profit misrepresented the user experience on X in order to harm the platform.
The issue arose after IBM withdrew ads from the site following claims by Media Matters that they had appeared next to pro-Nazi posts.
Apple and Lionsgate Entertainment also suspended their marketing on X following the claims. (Trending: Judge Issue Major Ruling On Transgender Procedures For Kids)

“The split second court opens on Monday, X Corp will be filing a thermonuclear lawsuit against Media Matters and ALL those who colluded in this fraudulent attack on our company,” Musk wrote.
“Their board, their donors, their network of dark money, all of them…”
An executive at X denied the platform was intentionally placing brands next to such content, and suggested Media Matters was actively searching for it.
“Ads follow the people on X, in this case the Media Matters research that was going to actively look for this content – that’s how user targeting works,” a X executive stated.
“As it relates to the platform itself, control settings are in place there for every user and every brand.”
The executive then said that employees of Media Matters “aggressively search for posts on X and then go to the accounts, and if they see an ad … keep hitting refresh to capture as many brands as possible.”
Musk accused the organization of misleading the public and undermining freedom of speech.
“This week, Media Matters for America posted a story that completely misrepresented the real user experience on X, in another attempt to undermine freedom of speech and mislead advertisers,” Musk pressed.

“Above everything, including profit, X works to protect the public’s right to free speech.”
“But for speech to be truly free, we must also have the freedom to see or hear things that some people may consider objectionable.”
“We believe that everyone has the right to make up their own minds about what to read, watch, or listen to — because that’s the power of freedom of speech.”
