In a press conference following the U.S.-China summit, President Biden reiterated his reference to Chinese President Xi Jinping as a “dictator,” emphasizing the differences in their respective forms of government.

This came after an incident involving a Chinese spy balloon and subsequent comments that sparked outrage from the Chinese government.

During the summit, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman issued a warning about America’s relations with Taiwan, emphasizing China’s commitment to reunification.

Biden, however, reaffirmed America’s adherence to the “One China” policy and did not mention Taiwan in his remarks.

“Well, look, he is,” confirmed Biden.

Adding, “He’s a dictator in the sense that he’s a guy who runs a country that is a communist country, that is based on a form of government that is totally different than ours.”

Biden originally called President Xi a “dictator” after a spy balloon entered U.S. airspace.

At the time, Biden said, “The reason why Xi Jinping got very upset in terms of when I shot that balloon down with two box cars full of spy equipment in it was he didn’t know it was there.”

“That’s a great embarrassment for dictators when they didn’t know what happened,” highlighted Biden.

He also mentioned agreements reached on fentanyl supplies and plans to improve communication between the American and Chinese militaries.
