Nepal’s government has announced its immediate ban of TikTok, citing disruptions to social harmony and the flow of indecent materials.
The decision was made in order to regulate social media platforms and hold them accountable by requiring registration, opening a liaison office, paying taxes, and abiding by the country’s laws.
“The government has decided to ban TikTok as it was necessary to regulate the use of the social media platform that was disrupting social harmony, goodwill and flow of indecent materials,” Foreign Minister Narayan Prakash Saud said. (Trending: Photos Released Of Cocaine Found In White House)

The reason for the ban or TikTok’s compliance with Nepal’s requests was not specified, and the company did not immediately respond to the announcement.
The action reflects global concerns about data privacy and national security related to Chinese-owned apps, although TikTok has denied sharing data with the Chinese government.
Additionally, Nepal previously banned all pornographic sites in 2018.
