Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis expects the Georgia election interference case against former President Donald Trump to extend into early 2025.
Willis stated that she does not consider election cycles when making decisions about cases, and that the trial could last many months.
“I think the case will be on appeals for years … I believe in that case there will be a trial. I believe the trial will take many months. And I don’t expect that we will conclude until the winter or the very early part of 2025,” Willis stated. (Trending: Photos Released Of Cocaine Found In White House)
“I don’t, when making decisions about cases to bring, consider an election cycle or an election season, does not go into calculus.”
“What goes into calculus is this is the law. These are the facts. And if the facts show you violated the law, then charges are brought.”
President Trump and 18 other co-defendants were charged in August for their alleged efforts to challenge the results of the 2020 presidential election, with the trial start date yet to be set.
Additionally, Willis’s team filed an emergency request in order to prevent evidence leaks and intimidation of witnesses.
Meanwhile, polls show President Trump currently holding a lead over President Biden among Georgia voters, with concerns expressed about both candidates.
“Everything about President Biden concerns me … You name it, that’s it. His age, his health, his standpoints. I’m really worried if he gets elected again,” said voter Dawn Nguyen.
