The majority of Democrats believe Barack Obama has done the best job as president over the past 40 years, while Republicans are divided between Ronald Reagan and Donald Trump.
Among Republicans, 41% say Reagan has done the best job, while 37% name Trump.
Overall, Trump received more positive results than Bill Clinton and Joe Biden.

For Democrats, 58% believe Obama has done the best job, with fewer naming Bill Clinton or Joe Biden.
According to the research, about 40% of both White and Hispanic Republicans believe Trump was the best president in the past 40 years. However, there is large gap between older and younger Republicans when it comes to Reagan.
More than half of Republicans over 50 reportedly picked Reagan as the best president in recent history. Only 29% of the under 50 group picked Reagan.
Trump also received more than 50% of responses when Republicans were asked to pick a second best president.
The opinions on best recent presidents have remained largely unchanged since 2021, and there are variations in opinions based on race, age, and education level among Republicans and Democrats.
