GOP Rep. Kevin McCarthy, ousted as speaker, is uncertain whether or not he will run for re-election in 2024.

The lawmaker mentioned considering his options throughout the holidays and discussing it with his family before making a decision.

“I got the holidays, I’ll talk to my family about the ideas of what going forward, and then I’ll make a decision,” he said. (Trending: Supreme Court Dismisses Case To Keep Trump Off Ballot)

“I want to make sure Speaker Johnson was able to come into office. I wanted to make sure he had the resources and the need, whatever help I can provide,” McCarthy said.

A recent poll indicates that a majority of likely voters believe that Speaker Mike Johnson will be better in the role than McCarthy.

Johnson has received favorable opinions from voters, with many seeing him as a better leader for the House. (Trending: Donald Trump Gets Great News)

“Voters like Speaker Johnson because he’s relatively unknown and doesn’t have the negative associations with Washington just yet. These ratings show just how much Americans are looking for new leadership to make Washington work instead of constantly being a dysfunctional body,” said GOP adviser Ron Bonjean.
