Don Samuels, a former Minneapolis City Council member, has announced his intention to challenge Democratic Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar.

Samuels narrowly lost to Omar in 2022 and is now positioning himself as a more moderate alternative, criticizing Omar for being divisive and frightening the Jewish community.

“Our congresswoman has a predilection to divisiveness and conflict,” Samuels said. (Trending: Photos Released Of Cocaine Found In White House)

“She has frightened the Jewish community,” he added.

“The long tails of the George Floyd and COVID issues continue, with empty storefronts and empty strip malls because people don’t want to invest anymore. They don’t think it’s safe,” Samuels stated.

He has received significant endorsements, and has expressed his opposition to defunding the police, while Omar has supported it as a policy demand.

Other candidates in the race include Democrats Sarah Gad and Tim Peterson, as well as Republican Dalia Al-Aqidi.
