Former Spanish politician Alejo Vidal-Quadras was shot in the face after leaving a church, possibly in an assassination attempt.
The attacker, wearing a motorcycle helmet, fled on a motorcycle with an accomplice.
Vidal-Quadras, a former leader of the PP and co-founder of the Vox party, is in serious but stable condition.
