Federal investigators uncovered a high-end brothel network catering to wealthy and influential clients in Massachusetts and Virginia.
The arrest of three men allegedly connected to the commercial sex ring revealed a clientele including elected officials, high-tech executives, and others.
The men operated an interstate prostitution network, enticing primarily Asian women to engage in prostitution in various luxury apartment complexes.
“This commercial sex ring was built on secrecy and exclusivity, catering to wealthy and well-connected clientele,” acting U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts Joshua Levy said.
“Pick a profession; they’re probably represented in this case,” Levy said.
“Business is booming, until today,” Levy added.
The operation used two websites advertising nude Asian models for professional photography as a front for prostitution.
Clients paid up to $600 an hour and now face potential prison sentences of up to 20 years if convicted.
“It’s through these investigative efforts that we shine a light on sexual trafficking as a global issue,” Cambridge Police Commissioner Christine Elow reportedly said.
