Tech investor Peter Thiel, a major donor to Donald Trump in 2016, stated that he won’t be contributing to Trump or any other candidate this election cycle.

Thiel described voting for Trump as an inarticulate cry for help and expressed his disappointment in the outcome, citing government dysfunction and danger.

“There are a lot of things I got wrong,” he said.

“It was crazier than I thought. It was more dangerous than I thought.”

“They couldn’t get the most basic pieces of the government to work. So that was—I think that part was maybe worse than even my low expectations.”

Although he has no regrets, he didn’t support Trump in 2020 and indicated he won’t back any 2024 Republican candidate, including Trump.

Thiel declined a $10 million request from Trump and later learned that Trump had insulted him, calling him a “scumbag.”
