President Joe Biden snapped after facing tough questions from Peter Doocy, a Fox News correspondent, regarding his poor standing in recent polls and a potential loss to Donald Trump in the 2024 election.
Biden’s attempt to disarm Doocy with humor failed, leading to a tense exchange.
Doocy’s questions highlighted Biden’s trailing position in swing-state polls, causing a visible reaction from the president. (Trending: Supreme Court Dismisses Case To Keep Trump Off Ballot)
“Why do you think it is, in this election season — ” Doocy began.
“Why do you think it is I always take your questions?” Biden cut him off jokingly.
“It’s a good one. I’ve got two good ones,” Doocy answered, seemingly unbothered by the joke.
“Why do you think it is that people should be more concerned about abortion access than your age?” Doocy asked.
“I don’t think it’s a comparable comparison,” Biden answered.
“Why do you think it is that you’re trailing Trump in all these swing-state polls?” Doocy then pressed.
“Because you don’t read the polls — there are 10 polls, eight of them I’m beating him in,” Biden shot back angrily.
“You guys only do two — CNN and New York Times. Check it out. Check it out. We’ll get you a copy,” Biden continued.
“You don’t believe you’re trailing in battleground states?” a separate reporter asked Biden.
“No, I don’t,” Biden answered, visibly frustrated.
The exchange exposed Biden’s frustration and short temper on the matter, a departure from his usual media interactions.
This interaction with Doocy showcased Biden’s vulnerability to challenging or unexpected questions.
