Automobile manufacturers are reducing electric vehicle production due to declining American demand.

Toyota Motor Chairman, Akio Toyoda, who has been a proponent of hybrid vehicles, is now saying “I told you so.”

“People are finally seeing reality,” Toyoda pressed. (Trending: Obama’s Ignorant Remarks On Israel)

“There are many ways to climb the mountain that is achieving carbon neutrality.”

He believes that achieving carbon neutrality can be done through various means, not just electric vehicles.

Toyoda cites reasons such as lack of infrastructure, pricing, and regional variations in customer preferences as roadblocks to rapid adoption of electric vehicles.

The high costs of production, repair, battery replacement, and limited charging infrastructure are also hindering the EV industry.

Consumer interest in EVs is not meeting expectations, and regulations based on ideals can be detrimental to regular users.

“[I]f regulations are created based on ideals, it is regular users who are the ones who suffer,” Toyoda said.

“In the U.S., some dealers say the first wave of buyers willing to try an EV has passed and remaining buyers are deterred by high sticker prices and the limited range of many EV models,” the Journal reported.

“Toyoda reiterated that he does not believe all-electric vehicles will be adopted as quickly as policy regulators and competitors think, due to a variety of reasons,” CNBC reported. “He cited lack of infrastructure, pricing and how customers’ choices vary region to region as examples of possible roadblocks.”

Despite previous plans for a shift to all-electric vehicles, Toyota’s CEO now seems vindicated by the declining demand for EVs.
